Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 August 2026
1. Who we are
SplitMate (“we”, “the app”) is a personal expense-splitting application published by an individual developer. This policy explains what information we collect and how it is used.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the app, we may collect:
- Account information: email address, display name, and mobile number you provide when signing up or updating your profile.
- App content: groups, expenses, balances, settle-up / payment records, and activity related to splitting expenses.
- Technical data: basic device and app diagnostics that help keep the service working (for example through Firebase).
- Advertising identifiers: when ads are shown, Google AdMob may use device advertising ID and similar data as described in Google’s policies.
3. How we use information
- To create and manage your account
- To provide expense splitting, groups, friends, and activity features
- To sync your data across devices via cloud services
- To show advertisements (AdMob) that help support the free app
- To improve reliability and fix issues
4. Third-party services
We use trusted third-party services that process data on our behalf:
- Google Firebase — Authentication and Cloud Firestore for accounts and app data
- Google AdMob — advertising
These services have their own privacy policies. See Google Privacy Policy and AdMob & privacy.
5. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. Data may be shared only with the service providers above to operate the app, or if required by law.
Other SplitMate users in your groups may see your name, email (where shown in the app), and expense activity you share within those groups.
6. Data retention
We keep your account and app data while your account is active. If you want your account or data deleted, contact us using the email below and we will delete it within a reasonable time, unless we must retain something for legal reasons.
7. Children’s privacy
SplitMate is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
8. Security
We use industry-standard services (including Firebase Authentication) to help protect your account. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
